random thoughts from my notes this week:
feeling like bambi ft a perfume list???
If you didn’t know already, I have been on a long journey in learning how to walk again. My entire summer has been spent feeling like Bambi. But, this week I took my first steps without crutches!!! Excited, is a massive understatement.
I am not sure how this sparked up the idea to list perfumes I want to try or why I didn’t make a separate note but, here’s a shortlist if you’re in the market for a new scent. This also gave me an idea for a new post so stay tuned!
a song that I relate to a little too much
I vividly remember being melodramatic over “Lucky” and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” at the ripe of 8. I would sit there on my bed dramatically clutching my plush bunny while romanticizing the drama of being a girl. Only to go on about my day playing with Barbies and drinking CapriSun with Rainbow Goldfish. If only I knew that I would come back full circle.
I am currently writing this while dramatically clutching my plush bunny, anxious about my transition into adulthood and law school, while drinking coconut water and I think I accidentally skipped lunch.
I never anticipated how raw and emotional it would feel to be in a state of flux.
Congratulations love, you are officially not a girl and not yet a woman.
wellness goals I may or may not have stuck to
Every month I love to start out by setting some goals that I know will improve my overall mental health and well-being. These are from last month, so let’s see what I actually stuck to.
morni meditations: yeah, no. I didn’t even do this once. I should give an earnest effort in adding this to my daily routine so I will be moving this over into this month’s note.
5 minute journal: okay hear me out, doesn’t writing on substack and in my notes app count? I wanted to commit 5 minutes a day to journaling but I hate feeling forced to write when my brain feels empty. I might try again this month because I now I have TOO many thoughts to sift through and I might feel better if I get them out of my head and onto paper. I also plan on pulling out my 5 minute journal this month to try and slowly get into the habit of practicing gratitude each day. Let’s check in on that next week.
mindful movement: why did I even put this in last month’s list? The pilates workouts that used to be in my daily routine have been replaced with stretches and random exercises prescribed by my pt. So at least I am doing something right? This will not make it into my new list given that I can’t quite pick my workouts right now.
gua sha & dry brush: I used my gua sha a handful of times last month and always love how relaxed I feel after. Whether or not it actually provides any facial sculpting or toning, I do not know. But I’ll give in to the placebo effect.
Ooooh dry brushing. I actually love when I stick to this regularly! I will be adding this to my July list. I will also be adding facial icing to the list because it’s hot as h*ll outside and I wish I could stand in my freezer.
no scrolling before bed: lol who am I kidding? I scroll through substack before bed saving articles into my already flooded archive box and silently laugh under my sheets while reading your guys’ clever notes. BUT! and this is a major one… I have not been on TikTok as much lately, so I will count that as a win. I will try my best to limit my screen time this month but if I am being completely honest, I hit “ignore for the day” anytime the alert pops up on my iPhone.
tea & reading before bed: I have always loved drinking egyptian licorice tea after dinner and reading a few pages of a book before bed. I read quite a few books last month and if you are ever interested in what’s on my shelves feel free to follow my bookstagram.
go to sleep earlier: okay soooo I have been getting a little bit better about going to sleep earlier but I am well aware that not having a regular sleep schedule totally f’s me up (s.o. to my oura ring for telling me to get my ish together). I am definitely going to add this to my list for July. While scaling back from my current bedtime of 1:00am to 10:30pm might give me a bit of whiplash, I think I can reasonably aim for 11:00. If I am not sleeping by 11:00 can someone pleaseee take my phone away?
that’s all from my notes app this week!
